The proven "heavier-than-water" silicone oil tamponade
Vial: Article number G-80910, Densiron® 68, 10 ml, sterile
Syringe: Article number G-80920, Densiron® 68, 10 ml, sterile
Application
Densiron® 68 / Densiron® Xtra are colorless, homogeneous fluids consisting of a mixture of high-purity polydimethylsiloxane and high-purity perfluorohexyloctane. Densiron® 68 / Densiron® Xtra contain no biologically active components, are chemically and physiologically inert, and are non-toxic. Densiron® 68 / Densiron® Xtra are used in ophthalmic surgery as long-term postoperative tamponades following surgical treatment of severe retinal detachments. They are also used as tamponades in macular hole surgery.
Composition
Contents per 10 ml vial/syringe
69,5 % Polydimethylsiloxane
30,5 % Perfluorhexyloctane
Density
1030 – 1060 kg/cm3 (bei 35 °C ± 2 °C)
Properties and Benefits
"Heavier-than-water" endotamponade with exceptional properties
Densiron® 68 is a "heavy" silicone oil tamponade that achieves a higher density than water due to the addition of highly purified perfluorohexyloctane (F6H8®). With a density of 1.03 – 1.06 g/cm³ (at 35 °C ± 2 °C), Densiron® 68 is especially recommended for the treatment of inferior retinal detachments and tears, where conventional treatment methods may be less effective.
Densiron® 68 offers high biocompatibility and a moderate viscosity of 900 – 1400 mPas (at 35 °C ± 2 °C), enabling fast and simple application.
This "heavy" silicone oil Densiron® 68 is characterized by consistently high quality. It contains no low-molecular-weight, particularly cyclic, siloxanes and is free from ionic compounds.
Used as a temporary retinal tamponade after surgical treatment of severe retinal detachment and macular holes
Ideal for inferior retinal issues
Provides a moderate viscosity of 900 – 1400 mPas (at 35 °C ± 2 °C) without increased dispersion tendencies
Increased density of 1.03 – 1.06 g/cm³ (at 35 °C ± 2 °C) for efficient retinal tamponade
Easy application and removal of the endotamponade
High storage stability even at low temperatures (no phase separation down to 2 °C)
