Application

F-Octane is a colorless, homogeneous liquid of high density, composed of ultra-pure perfluorooctane and intended for ocular use. F-Octane contains no biologically active components, is chemically and physiologically inert, and non-toxic. It is used as a medical device, particularly for unfolding detached retina, giant retinal tears, trauma cases, laser coagulation, and cryotherapy. Additionally, it can be used to elevate dislocated lenses.

Composition

F-Octane is a sterile fluorocarbon compound with a high density (1.73 g/cm³ at 35 ± 2 °C), consisting solely of C–C and C–F bonds, and contains no relevant amounts of biologically active components. Due to the exceptional stability of the C–F bonds, F-Octane is chemically and physiologically inert and completely non-toxic.
