Vioron®

The versatile trypan blue dye for the anterior segment

Application

Vioron® is a biocompatible tissue dye intended for ocular use. It is a sterile, endotoxin-free solution of trypan blue. Vioron® has been developed for use in anterior segment ophthalmic surgeries such as cataract surgerys and keratoplasties. By staining the anterior lens capsule, it enhances its visibility, thereby facilitating the capsulorhexis and minimizing the risk of capsule tears.

In addition, Vioron® is used for assessing the viability of corneal grafts (in cornea banks) for penetrating keratoplasty, as well as in lamellar keratoplasties such as Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) or Descemet’s stripping (automated) endothelial keratoplasty (DS(A)EK). In these procedures, it improves the visibility of the donor tissue and helps ensure correct orientation of the endothelial-Descemet membrane roll.
