Syringe: Item number G-80820, Siluron® 5000, 10 ml, sterile
Application
Siluron® 1000 / 2000 / Xtra / 5000 are colorless, homogeneous liquids made from highly purified polydimethylsiloxane. Siluron® 1000 / 2000 / Xtra / 5000 contain no biologically active components,
are chemically and physiologically inert, and non-toxic. These products are used in ophthalmic surgery as postoperative long-term endotamponades following the surgical treatment of severe retinal
detachments. They are also used as tamponades in macular hole surgery.

Properties and Benefits
High-purity silicone oil with excellent biocompatibility
The proven standard silicone oil tamponades Siluron® 1000 and Siluron® 5000 are made of 100% polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and are chemically and physiologically inert. Both silicone oils undergo a multi-step purification process, which removes low-molecular-weight, particularly cyclic siloxanes. As a result, these high-purity silicone oils offer the best possible compatibility for the operated eye.
The indications for both Siluron® 1000 and Siluron® 5000 are identical. They are used as temporary endotamponades following the surgical treatment of severe retinal detachments.
The high surface tension of Siluron® 1000 and Siluron® 5000 with respect to water (approximately 40 mN/m) ensures that the oils do not mix with aqueous fluids in the eye. The fluids are displaced from the retinal surface, effectively sealing retinal tears. With the intraocular silicone oil bubble, good retinal attachment and stabilization are ensured.
Fluoron GmbH offers a selection of silicone oils with different viscosities in its portfolio, allowing the user to choose between easier injectability (e.g., Siluron® 1000) and higher emulsification resistance (e.g., Siluron® 5000) based on specific needs.
