The proven standard silicone oil tamponade

Vial: Item number G-80710, Siluron® 1000, 10 ml, sterile
Syringe: Item number G-80720, Siluron® 1000, 10 ml, sterile

Application

Siluron® 1000 / 2000 / Xtra / 5000 are colorless, homogeneous liquids made of highly purified polydimethylsiloxane. Siluron® 1000 / 2000 / Xtra / 5000 contain no biologically active components, are chemically and physiologically inert, and non-toxic. These products are used in ophthalmic surgery as postoperative long-term endotamponades following the surgical treatment of severe retinal detachments. They are also used as tamponades in macular hole surgery.

Properties and Benefits

High-purity silicone oil with excellent biocompatibility

The proven standard silicone oil tamponades Siluron® 1000 and Siluron® 5000 are composed of 100% polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and are chemically and physiologically inert. Both silicone oils undergo a multi-step purification process, which removes low-molecular-weight, particularly cyclic siloxanes. As a result, the oils are of the highest purity, ensuring the best possible compatibility for the operated eye.

The high surface tension of Siluron® 1000 and Siluron® 5000 in relation to water (approximately 40 mN/m) ensures that the oils do not mix with aqueous fluids in the eye. The liquids are displaced from the retinal surface, thereby sealing retinal tears. With the intraocular silicone oil bubble, good retinal attachment and stabilization are ensured.

Fluoron GmbH offers a range of silicone oils with varying viscosities in its portfolio, allowing the user to choose based on specific requirements, such as easier injectability (e.g., Siluron® 1000) or higher emulsification resistance (e.g., Siluron® 5000).

  • Used as a prolonged retinal tamponade after successful retinal attachment

  • High purity

  • Sterilized in final packaging
